Graduated at Turin Medical School in 1974. Specialized in Ob&Gyn at Turin University in 1977. Researcher since 1986, Associate Professor since 1992 and full Professor since 2005 at the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of the University of Turin. Since January 2000 Director of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Since 2009 Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Neonatology of Sant'Anna Hospital in Turin. Currently teaching Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Turin (Medical School, PhD school of Clinical Science). Her main fields of research are: maternal diseases of pregnancy (with focus on hypertensive disorders in pregnancy, cardiovascular and renal diseases); development of the placenta; diagnostic ultrasound and Doppler ultrasound; normal and abnormal fetal growth, with focus on intrauterine growth restriction; development of the central nervous system; development of the cardiovascular system; fetal malformations. She has been invited to present data on these subjects at many national and international meetings (over 300). She has several national and international cooperations and has had projects funded by the Italian Ministry for University and Research, by the National Research Council and by the European Union.
She is the Author of over 300 publications.She is reviewer of national and international scientific research projects and referee of several scientific journals among which Lancet, American Journal Obstetrics & Gynecology, Placenta, Human Reproduction. She has served as president of the Italian Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2006 - 08.
